Thanks to BB (Peter Davis) for sending in some of his favourite quotes for the wall. One or two of these were also on the original loo wall at the cottage. Great to see some old favourites and great to see all the fabulous new ones coming in too. Pete also suggested a wall of original quotes. A few people have already sent in their original quotes so I'll think about putting them onto a separate wall at some point... or, as BB suggests, running a competition for our favourite original quote. For now though here are a mixture of new and golden oldies:
The only true wisdom is knowing you know nothing. (Socrates) Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood. (T.S. Elliot
Poetry is nearer to vital truth than history. (Plato) A kiss is a lovely trick designed by nature to stop speech when words become superfluous. (Ingrid Bergman)
Common sense is not so common. (Voltaire) There is a wisdom of the head and a wisdom of the heart. (Charles Dickens.)
A poet can survive anything but a misprint. (Oscar Wilde) We build too many walls and not enough bridges. (Isaac Newton).

Thanks to Brian Patten for his fabulous events at Warwick Words this year! His generosity, warmth and humour and the pleasure of his poetry were appreciated by one and all. Many thanks to Brian for the joy of his company and for emailing this quote for the loo wall:
" Some poets die long before their rhyme " - Brian Patten.
Thanks also to Brian for his comments about the loo wall. I'd like there to be an image of an old loo and wall up here too... I'll see if I can sort that out soon.
